What is Public Health?

Public health - The science and practice of protecting and improving the health of a community, as by preventive medicine, health education, control of communicable diseases, application of sanitary measures, and monitoring of environmental hazards. (The American Heritage Dictionary)

Public health is everything from clean air and drinking water, to vaccinations and injury prevention. Public health looks at preventing problems before they happen.

The Wasatch County Health Department operates many programs designed to improve the overall quality of life for the residents of Wasatch County. Through these programs we are able to measure, monitor and improve health concerns in our community.
