Disease Investigations

When a case of a reportable disease is encountered, the Wasatch County Health Department conducts an investigation in an effort to find out where the disease came from and determine if anyone else is affected. Actions taken as part of an investigation may include: interviewing the patient and/or their  healthcare provider, conducting an environmental assessment (inspection), and collecting samples for laboratory analysis.

Below is a list of resources that may be used during an investigation, including access to UT-NEDSS/CSI TriSanoTM.

This model provides local health departments with guidelines for conducting an enteric disease outbreak investigation
