Food Handler Information

All food service workers are required to obtain a food handlers permit from the Wasatch County Health Department to work in a food service establishment. Food Handler permit classes are held each month to train workers in the basics of food safety.

A food handler card is issued at the successful completion of the class, that card is valid for three years. Before the card has expired, it is required to take the Food Handler class a second time.  When successfully completed a second time, a green card will be issued, which is also valid for three years.  A green card can then be renewed every three years without attending further classes, as long as the card has not expired, by coming into the Wasatch County Health Department, filling out an application and paying the fee.
