Used oil is "any oil, refined from crude oil or a synthetic oil, that has been used and as a result of that use is contaminated by physical or chemical impurities." Wasatch County has three DIYer (Do-it-yourself ) collection centers that can collect used oil generated from household activities, including maintenance of personal vehicles, in five gallon quantities per visit. Two of these can also collect oil generated from farmers, up to 55 gallon quantities per visit. The collection sites follow DIYer rules from Title 19 Chapter 6 Hazardous Substances Part 7 Used Oil Management Act and R315-15: Standards for the Management of Used Oil. These rules can be found at http://hazardouswaste.utah.gov.
