Held each school year at our local elementary schools, these bike rodeos teach kids road safety through fun obstacle courses. Children learn traffic signs and how to ride safely.
A fun annual event that encourages kids to stay active. Students track their miles throughout the school year, and at the event, they complete their final miles to reach a full marathon total. They celebrate with a T-shirt, snacks, and a medal.
Formerly known as Red Ribbon Week, Prevention Week is held in our local schools to raise awareness about the dangers of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs, while promoting violence prevention. During the week, students take part in educational activities and receive discounts from local businesses to encourage living a healthy, drug and substance-free life.
Hosted each year by our local Safe Kids Coalition , this event offers games, hands-on activities, and important safety lessons for kids. Families can also receive free safety items like helmets, carbon monoxide alarms, and life jackets.
We help support an event put on by the Wasatch Parent Network. This encourages parents and students to be safe as they travel to and from school. Kids wear green and blue ribbons as a reminder to be safe on the road.
We have certified car seat technicians available to check any car seat to ensure that your child is safe. Additionally, we offer a low-income car seat program with education and installation of the car seats. Prices vary based on the type of car seat and income eligibility. Helmets reduce the risk of head injuries and traumatic brain injuries. We offer helmet fittings and helmets at a reduced cost while supplies last.
From Memorial Day to Labor Day, we offer a life jacket loaner station in sizes ranging from baby to adult. You can check out life jackets for free.
Naloxone, also known by the brand name Narcan, is a life-saving medication used to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. At the health department, we offer Naloxone training along with free naloxone while supplies last. Contact Kristin at 435-657-3502 to learn more.

Question Persuade Refer (QPR) is a suicide prevention class held at the health department. In this class, participants will learn signs and behaviors of suicide ideation and develop necessary skills to help others. Contact Kristin at 435-657-3502 to learn more.
Held in the evening during Wasatch County Fair Days, this event promotes living tobacco-free. Participants can join hands-on activities and watch or compete in scooter, BMX, and skateboarding competitions. Enjoy music, snacks, and prizes throughout the night.
Across Wasatch County we have 3 drop-off locations for old and unused medications. Simply drop them off at the medication boxes located at Lee’s Marketplace, Heber City Police Station, or Wasatch County Sheriff's Office. Our local youth clubs meet at our local middle schools and high schools. Club participants promote student health through education on alcohol, tobacco, drugs & mental awareness.
